Creating a Professional and Personable Profile

It’s important to make sure that your social media platforms are current and up-to-date. If it’s June, be sure not to have holiday information posted! You also want people to see that they are connecting with a person, and not a corporate logo or brand. Remember, your biggest asset is you!

Here are some things you will want to pay attention to:

Cover Photo: We suggest switching up your cover photo every month. Your cover photo is one of the first things people see when they visit your Facebook page - it should grab their attention and tell them a little bit about you and your business. Your cover photo can be things like fun, inspirational quotes, lifestyle photos of your product, and so on. Be creative! After a few months of testing photos, you will be able to see which types of cover photos get the best response from your customers.

Profile or Display Photo: Your profile photo should never be a product, an independent consultant logo or anything other than a photo of YOU! Show people who they are doing business with and they will be more likely to interact with you. People do business with people they want to be friends with, so be sure to show off who you are. Always post a photo of you smiling and looking put together. You want to look approachable but professional. Think how you would dress to a backyard BBQ - casual clothes with your make-up done, hair done and maybe a few accessories. Your profile photos should not be photos of your kids, pets and so forth.

About Section: It’s important to create a professional, engaging and unique bio.

What you do, not who you are. Most people won’t understand your level of rank in your company or even merely what an Independent Consultant is. So it’s important that you explain to them simply what you do and a fun way of showing who you are. For example, Stay at home mother of four and home cook! Easy and healthy recipes for your family.
